You must of just washed it.

There's no snow, so it's July.
It's July, but there's no bugs on the windshield or grill :D

Nice looking Wagon!

Thank you gentlemen. Haven't had time to wash it yet or drive it much. But hardly any bugs around these days...probably all frozen!!

I think the fenders are done! lol

I found a set of fenders locally for $75. They have a bit of surface rust but they are solid.

Removed the blue paint with lacquer thinner.

A bit of minor body work, treated all the rust with DOM16 and used leftover paint. Thank god for fender flares!

Thank you! Now I'm on the hunt for a new silver box. Mechanically, it is a sound truck so I'll try to keep it as long as I can.

As previously posted, this is the newer box I got for the Ram.

Got the frame painted with 2 coats of DOM16...Canadian version of POR15. Plus added 2 coats of paint for areas exposed to sunlight.

Box is installed. Next is repairing small rust spots, installing fender flares and box liner.

Well, this happened today. Broken cab bolt.

https://i.postimg.cc/W1bzkcB2/IMG-2542.jpg

Did anyone encounter this before?

It's the most rearward bolt on the passenger side (there are 6 bolts holding the cab...well 5 now, lol). I don't see an easy fix. I know it's rusty, but I need to make it last as long as I can.

LMAO!!!! Thinking about something very similar.

You asking if there's another way to fix beyond removing the broken bolt and installing a new one?

Old Fart
03-29-2023, 11:50 AM
Ya, don't think I'm going to either jack up the cab or cut a hole in the floor.

Laffs

Don't those bolt in from underneath on the 3rd Gens?

Old Fart
03-29-2023, 12:46 PM
Yes, and that's the problem. If I was to cut a hole in the cab floor and reach down 6 inches, I don't think I can loosen the thread portion if there is any of it sticking out. If there is, maybe welding a nut on it might do it...but that sounds like a summer project. So I think it will be my redneck repair for now.

Redneck repair would use that brake pad that Don posted or some sort of metal lying around. An Engineer would use epoxy and duct tape. LOL

That's exactly what is planned...6 inch muffler clamp, lol.

Laffs

Soak it for a week or two with penetrating fluid, then drill and ez out, or just drill it out entirely. Welding a nut could work as well if you got access.

Thanks. All depends what I see when cut open the floor when it's warmer. Still too damn cold.

Not proud of this, but the side-step holds my weight and I think it should last until summer.
