So getting excited for TMP on the 28th and now I'm having issues with the Stang.

When I give it power it kinda slips. Around 3000+ rpms I feel slight slips and small jerks and I'm not getting full power to the wheels. Even the exhaust sounds different. It kinda meaner but not normal. It only happens when I push it. Sitting at 3000 rpms is fine.
The check engine starting flashing when I pushed it hard while trying to get a feel for it. It flashed for about 20 sec after I let off. I haven't seen it since but I also stopped driving it hard. now I slowly accelerate to speed.

I'm not mechanically inclined (i'd like to be, but haven't found anyone to teach me).

This all started Sunday. The only thing I did was clean the engine bay on Sat. Normally I'm very carefull and I've done this many times before. I cover the alternator with a bag and I stay away from the belt and pullies and I use a soft paint brush for the hard reach areas. I'm also getting a faint burning rubber smell from the engine bay.

Maybe while doing so I messed something up? Maybe some of the spark plugs arn't fireing? or my clutch is slipping or something else?

This is my luck... I'm not allowed to be too excited about anything! something always happens!

I just hope it doesn't set me back too much or I'll be spectating with my new helmet

Not sure if anyone knows whats going on or knows how much this is going to set me back

Edit: forgot to metion that even idling sounds differnet

Water down the spark plug holes.

If you have access to compressed air, remove the coil packs and dry out the hole.

Fairly sure my coil packs on my 06 were held on with a small torx screw. After that's removed they just pull off.

Definitely sounds like water got to them. Hope they didn't get fried from it. Those things aren't cheap.

It's a pretty easy thing to do. If you lived closer I'd say come on over and I would show you. There should be a few YouTube vids showing you how. Remove wiring harness clip. I think you just press up from the bottom to get clip off. Remove small screw holding coil down. Grip at base of coil and pop the coil up. You will see a long rubber tube with a spring inside attached to the base of the top of the coil. Get your air hose with an air blast type attachment and blow out the hole. Try not to drop anything into the spark plug hole. If you haven't changed your plugs in awhile after cleaning the area out... now might be a good time considering it wouldn't take much more to do so.

Ya I msg. him, thanks.

Gonna try tonight. I'm pretty Its something I shouldn't let sit, right? If I did mess them up whats the cost to replace them?

I'm not sure why this would happen this time any of the other times I cleaned the engine bay?

They can range from anywhere from around $200 to over $500 for a full set.

The $500 one will make it faster?

Do not start again until you, remove all coil packs, blow the plug holes dry, same for the coils themselves, reinstall.

+1 on the above.

If you take the time NOW to do as described and dry everything out then there's a very good chance it will cost you $0 to fix. You can't screw this procedure up, just need a small socket (8mm?) on a small ratchet with an extension. 1 or 2 of the coils are tricky to get to as they sit under the air intake tube, but ya just gotta hold your tongue right and slip them out of there. Don't even worry about mixing up the wiring order upon reassembly cuz you can't even screw that part up.

Worst case you may need to buy 1 coil if it was weak and let go, but chances are you'll be fine.

The idle sounds different because you've got a random misfire and not firing strong on all 8 all the time right now until you dry it out.

Thanks guys and special thanks to mootang.
Took the car over to his place and he showed me how and cleaned them up. There was a little moisture in one, but nothing major. hope that was it. I ripped it home, and it seemed fine. But I originally noticed it on the hwy. So I gotta try it there. Just gubing an update and my thanks

Okay so took it out on the hwy and really pushed it.... hurray no lack of power or small jerks

But.. at exactly 3000 up to 3500 rpm it makes a squealing noise or a whine in every gear

Could be a pulley getting noisy. Had one one my F150 that squealed at a particular rpm only.

Too funny! But if I did that I would have never learned how to take the coils out.

So the moral of the story would be: The only way to learn, is to Break it

hhhmm, that's always been my moral of figuring out what parts need upgrading.

True! Part of me wanted it broken. That way I can say to the 'old crow' we need to fix it... Lets buy the best!

A really small part tho, really really deep down (cuz I'm Cheap)

Did the check engine light go away? Do you have a code reader?

The check engine light began flashing when I first knoticed the problem When I accelerated hard on Saturday. It was on for about 20 secs. It hasn't turned on since.

So I got the car back from the mechanic. the brake fluid done, oil change and the new belt put on. I asked him to check the noise at 3000rpms. he said he didn't notice anything.

But I'm still hearing the sound. So this time I had the windows down and drove near some walls and it definitely there, Im not crazy!

But it sound like vibrations, prolly the exhaust?

Could be an exhaust heat shield come loose?
Tends to happen from rust over time.
