Hi all,

I'm looking to get my windows re-tinted. Any recommendations on where I can get it done that offers a lifetime warranty? I don't mind spending a little extra for great quality. Also does anyone have 20% or darker tint and had any issues in the gta?

Thanks!

I may be getting old, but I had 5% pulled from my dd and replaced with 20% (except the rear window) because I couldn't see out the windows well enough at night.

Thats what I'm worried about. Any issues with cops? How long did you have it on for?

If it's a daily driver 20% would be fine. Scott's Car Care in Milton does a really good job, not sure about the lifetime warranty though. I'm going to take the truck there this year when it comes out.

Formula 1 (The Detailing Shop) on Mulock in Newmarket...guess depends on how far you want to drive

I have 35% on 1 Mustang and 15% on another...the one with 15% is un driveable at night...rear view mirror becomes uselless, sure it looks great, but not as enjoyable to drive for me...

Red one has 35% and the Black one has 15%

It was on the car when I got it, I took it off after a week, could not even back into my driveway straight, lol. Seriously though, it was borderline dangerous and I have 20/20 vision. No issues with the cops, but they're pretty relaxed in Windsor compared to T.O.

Audio Heaven in Richmond Hill, lifetime warranty, I've had all my cars done by them, never once had an issue. There also open Sunday's by appointment.

Curious about how to get it off if you need /want to?

Depends when you wanna do it and if you have a heated garage. You can stick a garbage bag to the inside of the glass and let it sit in the sun for a few hours, then it will come off with the bag. Or you can use a heat gun and peel it off as best you can, then use oven cleaner for the residue, of course it's hardest to do the rear if it has a defrost grid, but 5% on the rear should be fine if the sides are all 20.

Thanks for the input guys, I'm thinking about doing 20% now. I just have one more question, what's the difference between charcoal and smoke? Which one is the most popular one? Thanks!

Never heard of either, lol, I just tell the guy to tint the windows.

Mine has 15% all round, would not do it again for the reasons Dave noted.

Ive had multiple cars done by them, they also use formula 1 tint (I recommend springing for the ceramic)
They are involved in several other car clubs and have hundreds of reviews on red flag deals, from my research seems like a bit higher end place but worth it.

Sometimes I roll my windows down at night when turning left or right so I can actually see. It reduces visibility but looks nice. Came with my car when I bought it. I would never do it otherwise.

I don't think cops will be a hassle. I've been pulled over enough times and my tint was never mentioned. Just roll down both windows and put the map light on.

I actually considering taking my current 20% off and going 15%. The tint used must have been some cheap shit because it has an annoying green hue to it and it's lighter than 20%. I had 20% on my 06 and it was significantly darker than the crap that's on my 14.

Funny I worried about that problem with my Lexus as it had auto dimming side and rear view mirrors. Audio Heaven recommend there 17% Solargard tints, yes darker on the outside but surprisingly lighter on the inside. Needless to say I had no issues looking through my mirrors even when they dimmed at night. Definitely spend the extra coin on quality film wherever you decide to go.

We can take care of your tint here at the shop if you'd like. Just give me a call and we can get you squared away.

Pro tint in Hamilton does a really good job as well. Came recommended from some members from here....

Best of luck getting your tint. I'm sure it's gonna look awesome!!

So looks mega dark from the outside but liveable from inside? Now dats cool. Love how my car looks but in all honesty, so dark it's an absolute pain to drive in anything but bright sunlight. Seriously considering take it on the chin and changing things up.

Highly recommend Audio Heaven and the Solargard Tint film. If I was able to see through all mirrors clearly at night with headlights behind me dimming them I guarantee that you won't be disappointed.

Mine has 20% all around but it came that way. It is very dark in the cabin with the windows up (I too prefer to drive with the windows down as much as possible). In the evening, I have to roll down the windows to use the mirrors when backing into the garage. On my previous new cars that I had tinted, I went with 35% all around. Very uniform look, even on a black car.
