Anyone here running a blade on their 1/2 ton? Yes I know I'm a giant fool who will destroy the entire front end of my truck the first time I put the cutting edge down but lets put that aside. Also I have no belief I'm strapping a 9' 6" V plow to this thing but I'm at the point between parents and grand parents and my own driveway that I'm spending far too much time an energy moving around a blower and shovel.
For light duty use that won't be as hard on your truck, look to a steel frame fiberglass / composite blade.
I was looking at Boss' HTX, the poly moldboard was only a 30lbs saving over the steel. Fisher's half ton plow was only in steel. Who makes a glass over steel unit?
Must have had reliability issues n upper the thickness / wt on the poly blades.
I know at one time glass blades, maybe fallen by the wayside.
Yea. It's been, fuck, about 14-15 years since I've run a truck with a blade on it. Back then having a V Plow was huge deal.
my buddy has a plow that slides into a trailer hitch receiver on the front of his Tacoma has a small blade just for light plowing at his shop
Looked in to these a bit. Biggest issue with them is that a lot of what I'd be doing is backdragging and apparently they aren't the best at that.Quote:

Yeah, maybe but then I'd be keeping trailer at shop, having to drive over hook up then come home get blower, etc. Also I have yet to buy a blower since my 7 year old Ariens that I don't fucking hate. I've emailed a local dealer for pricing on a Fisher HT and mount/install. I didn't realize PlowSite still existed (and my login worked) so did some searching and that one popped up a bit.

The big box stores all sell a "home" blade, that can be mounted on anything. Cheap and useful.
