Clutch in and set up properly.
Bell Housing cleaned up and painted.
Wires and O2 sensors tied up against the trans so they do not get burnt on the header.
K member bolted up to the motor after being squared into the car.
Valve covers pulled off and re-gasketed. Redid all the bolt grommets aswell as the plug hole gaskets.
At this time we also pulled off the headers and re-gasketed them as well.
When they were installed by another shop... used aftermarket gaskets and were already leaking. Only use MLS style gaskets on a Cobra for the manifolds/headers!

Update on the Zinc build.
Customer put about 1,000kms on the car before hitting the dyno.
Did that to properly break in the clutch and make sure everything was good to go...
Bad news unfortunately on the dyno...
Car made 2 pulls on the dyno that went smooth as silk, as the tuner was loading in the revision for pull #3, on start up, the car was on 7cylinders.
Long story short, the car dropped a valve seat. (not the tuners fault, or anyone's for that matter)
Major blow
The motor has long since been pulled from the car and over to our machine shop (Beatty&Woods).
Mike, the owner of the car, has decided now is the time to do cams and some other upgrades inside the motor while the heads are being fixed.
Going with Crower stage 2 cams, upgrade GT500 rockers and TFS lash adjusters.
The good news in all of this is...
1. The tuner, DCT, realized what was happening and didn't continue with the dyno tuning
2. The valve did not hit the piston and cause anymore damage to the bottom end
3. No damage to the heads
4. the car was already at 560ish on the second pull with very very very low timing in it.
Obviously a big blow to everyone involved as the car was pretty much complete. We will be getting the motor back sometime in the next couple of months and will have the car reassembled for spring time.
This Cobra is going to be a ripper once completed. With the new cams and upping the boost, Mike should be in the 640-650 range once we get it back together.
Here is a photo of the driver side valve cover. If you can zoom in, the rocker arm is off.

Little update on the Cobra build
We took this apart way back in the fall... and the machine shop still doesn't have the parts they need to put the motor together.
I believe we are waiting for rings? for the pistons before they can start getting it back together.
It's really unbelievable that parts supply issues are getting even worse then what they were a year ago.
3 or 4years ago, this would be a 5 or 6week rebuild and it would be done. Now we are talking 5-6months+.
Insane.
Hopefully have this back soon and get Mike up on his feet and back to enjoying his car.

Yes yes I know... I've been bad about updates... but here is one!
We have long since got Mike his car back with the new motor installed with the cams.
Life got in the way for Mike and he hadn't gotten around to put any kms on it! Well this spring he finally got the break in miles done on the motor.
Here are accouple of photo's of it in the shop about 3 or so weeks ago.
Side note, this might be the tightest Vert cobra we get the pleasure of working on. The subframe connectors, full tilt boogie, K members, coilovers... makes it ride and drive incredibly well. We often forget that these cars are 20+ years old at this point! Where does the time go?
Fast forward to today... DYNO DAY!
So to remind everyone...
2.3 Whipple
BBK headers with a CATTED X pipe
JLT Cold Air
Magnaflow cat back
Crower stage 2 cams with TFS lash adjusters & GT 500 roller rockers
Lethal budget return fuel system
Motor built by Beatty & Woods
Tuned by DCT
The car put down a wicked 618 @ 14lbs of boost in todays heat. IMPRESSIVE!
Mike is going to be floored when he hits it for the first time.
It has been a super long journey with the car... but we saw it through to the end.
Another badass Cobra created.
