So if moly seems to help, I fixed my Ram hemi tick with Redline oil. Got the information on ramforum.com... https://www.ramforum.com/threads/synthetic-oil.27664/ . That synthetic oil thread is long, took me a month to read! Redline oil has high molybdenum among other additives and has a high success rate with fixing the hemi tick. It's not cheap...Partsource regular price is $65 for a 4 US quarts jug. Maybe it would work for the Ford tick?

Moly and zinc are for the most part left out of modern oil and the high amounts of detergent clean away what little moly and zinc are in the engine protecting the vital parts like the lower end so adding the moly will help it may not be a controlled amount and not recommended to use in a noisey automatic transmissionQuote:

Lol Mike not sure if tour referring to me or the trunk monkeys the cams need moly and zinc too to protect from the constant contact in that area - some people complain about lower end noise as well which could be caused from pre ignition or just plain neglectQuote:

OK I see some people might inclined to put moly in their automatic transmission its not recommended but could be used in a stick - some motorcycles operate with a wet clutch as well and share the engine oil here a moly or zinc base oil shouldn't be used either only detergent based oilsQuote:
