Finally got the cobra outta storage last weekend. On the first ride, I noticed my speedo/odo weren't working. After a bit of driving, the car began to stall when coming to a stop. Shortly after that, the check engine light came on.
When I got home, I hooked up the code reader and got a P0500 code. VSS malfunction.
So I ordered a new vehicle speed sensor and installed it today. Took the car out to test it and no change. I began to check for wiring issues. All the connectors looked good as the car has never seen salt/winter.
Got to thinking maybe the Speedcal had a bad power connection. When I opened up the speedcal box, I found oil all around the inside of the box cover and on the circuitry.
WTF?? I thought this don't look normal. I checked under the dash to see if there was any other oil around...none. Any ideas on what could cause this?
Will have to order a new speedcal...hopefully, one of the sponsors carries them.
btw...it's a '98 5spd cobra...
