"Quiet Start" exhaust mode available on 2018 Mustang GT

Now you can be a good neighbor by making your exhaust quieter on startup on those early morning drives ...

That was the dumbest fucking promotional video I've seen in a long time.

Does the exhaust actually have 4 different modes?

looks like they borrowed the idea from Roush

TOURING mode can be selected to route all exhaust gasses through the mufflers keeping output decibels at their absolute minimum –especially useful when you want to fly under the radar or appease the anti-noise neighbors.

SPORT mode provides a free-flowing exhaust at idle and quiet operation during non-aggressive driving. The system opens up again when you step into the throttle or drive at high speeds. This pre-loaded mode is more aggressive (louder) than stock, but are still legal for street operation.

TRACK mode is the loudest of the modes. This mode keeps the exhaust bypass fully open at all times when the engine is running and is typically used only on the track, as it is not legal for street operation.

CUSTOM mode allows the operator to use our mobile app to interface with the Wi-Fi module and personalize the exhaust sound with a unique calibration. With the app, the driver gains full control over the position of the actuators based on vehicle speed, engine speed and throttle position.

Active exhaust has been around for years. I stated in a previous thread how much I love the 2018 Mustang (saying this so everyone puts their pitchforks down) , but Ford's media tour touting all these features as revolutionary is hurting my brain.

That's certainly true that other manufacturers have been using it for awhile, but typically it's been on higher end vehicles for the most part. I think that you'll see pretty much every carmaker blowing their horn when they have something that is new to their own lineup.

^^ Agreed. When high-end technology starts to trickle-down to cheaper cars is when you start seeing it advertised.
