Detailing our 2016 Mini Cooper S John Cooper Works Edition

My Dad and I recently purchased a 2016 Mini Cooper S John Cooper Works Edition finished in the classic JCW colours. It's finished in Chilli Red with Black accents on the roof and mirrors with thunder grey metallic bonnet stripes,Dinamica/Leather Carbon black essentials package, loaded package, upgraded active exhaust, Upgraded 18" forged wheels, Navigation, panoramic roof etc...It's now about two weeks old and time to detail it. I had my work cut out for me that weekend.

Here are some pictures of the car when we bought it.

After a full wash/ deconamination process which includes claying all surfaces it was being prepped for a semi permanent ceramic coating that would last approximately 24 months

Without boring you too much some before shots of the paint and stripes. The paint had the obvious swirls even though it was not evident by the naked eye. Putting it under the light revealed an entire different story.

The stripes had hard water spots etched into the vinyl. This was going to be messy.

Thank you. Initially was doing some testing of 3D 505 but was not fond of the smell and it felt a bit on the "greasy side" of things and simply did not want to risk my application of CQuartz Ceramic Coating so ended up going with Meguiar's D151 Creme and topping it off with CQuartz UK 110 and Car Pro Reload to give it a boost to make it more hydrophobic and dirt resistance. The ceramic coating should be good for about 2.5 - 3 years with a normal top up of Reload. The stripes were treated a bit differently and I used Meguiar's M205 to polish out the water spots in the stripes. This car sits in the garage most of the time but average span under normal conditions is about a year and a bit.
