    Angry One Billion Dollars . . . . . . . . . . .

One man doesn’t want taxpayers to forget what the cancelled gas plants scandal is really all about.
Antony Niro, of youbillion.ca, carted his billion dollar prop out of storage Friday and placed it in front of the Old City Hall courthouse where two senior political staffers are on trial for allegedly deleting emails related to the plants.
“It’s public awareness; it’s as simple as that,” Niro said. “It’s a scandal that occurred many years back and people are starting to forget. In fact, many people have forgotten.”
The skid of fake cash highlights how much public money was spent when the former Dalton McGuinty government cancelled planned gas plants in Mississauga and Oakville prior to the last election despite signed contracts.
Ontario auditors going over the numbers said the cancellations cost taxpayers up to and possibly more than $1 billion.
“We got nothing for that,” Niro said.
His online campaign asks people what would you do with a billion dollars?
He said responses have included building a hospital, free education for post-secondary students or free prescription drugs.
“We could have done all those things,” he said.

And that is just a piece of the puzzle of all the money they squandered.

The people want clean air (damn tree huggers). So the gov closes the coal stations and signs contracts for new gas plants. One in Mississauga, one in Oakville.
Then everybody in Mississauga and Oakville wake up and say: "not in my backyard".

In the 2011 Provincial election the Mississauga candidates of all three parties openly expressed opposition to the Mississauga power plant in pre-election debates. NDP candidate Anju Sikka wrote in an open letter to Dalton McGuinty "An NDP government would never allow construction to begin before a thorough and independent Environmental Assessment has been completed", and PC candidate Geoff Janoscik stated in a press release "A Tim Hudak Government will cancel this plant"
The people get their way, the gov cancels the contracts. And here we are ....

Along with suing the Ontario Liberals, can we also sue the NDP and the Conservatives, and all the citizens of Mississauga and Oakville?

^^^ provincial gov't could have broken the contracts without paying a dime by simply waiting it out a bit longer....but that bit longer passed the election date

the Liberals chose to pay out the contracts in full....for fucking nothing in return....aside from the fear of losing their two seats in both respective ridings

the whole episode could and should have been about a waste of time for the Gov't to choose those locations and then backpedal on the nimby issue.....it did not have to involve fucking burning 1 billion dollars

    1 billion aka 1000 million
