I'm thinking about upgrading the rear wheels on the 97 cobra to 17 x 10.5, what size tire what be best?
Would 305 be the best fit?
Are 315's too big?

I'm looking on line, and there doesn't seem to be too many 305 options, unless I want a mudder tire lol.
Your choices are going to be 285/40R17 or 315/35R17. Depending on the brand and model of tire, the 315 would likely require some fender lip rolling.

no, there is lots of room on the 99-2004 SN95's as they already have a flare built into the fenders, I'm not 100% sure on the clearance on the earlier SN's but I believe they will fit without rolling...again could depend on the tire as well...like mentioned the goodyears 315 vs. sumitomo 315 is 1/2" in tread width, I've had both and measured them...also measured the Nitto 315 when Not4you had his Mach, he had same size wheels as me...and they were 1/4" narrower than the goodyear F1's...
trying to think who has 315's on here with an SN95 that could chime in...there must be somebody...lol
I have 315's on both mine and I think they are perfect, however I like a little bulge so...
Anyways, these are both 17x10.5 with 315's These are DSG3's (which are an amazing tire btw...but pricey now days) which run a little wider than say, a Nitto or Sumitomo

Thanks Ghostrider. Did you have to roll your fenders?

The car already has MM adjustable lower control arms, quads are still in place though.
