Ford GT sets record at VIR on Car & Driver's "Lightning Lap" test

They couldn't get their hands on one last year for the 11th "Lightning Lap", a 3 day test-fest, so now that they were able to get a car they did a one-day test at VIR with it, and broke the record previously set by a Porsche 918 Spyder:

Those are some great photos. I love the car (other than the V6...), but have a hard time believing it's faster than a 918. On this track on those days, sure, but on the same day....I don't know.

The stuff that Multimatic and Ford did with the suspension and aero is very clever. On a fast course I could see it being as quick as something like the Porsche, which has more power but also a bunch more weight to haul around.
