    Forged or hyper

Looking for a quick response. My car is a 1995 mustang 5.0 I will be running a Kenne Bell supercharger

I have the opportunity to buy a 1991 shortblock with low mileage with stock “forged” pistons.

The alternative is keeping my stock 1995 shortblock with hyper pistons.

Hyper and a good tune and you are good to go. If you want to be king of the dyno, more than once, then forged.

Forged is safer, if the difference is peanuts, always choose forged, some have had luck with hyper, but for many they’re a timebomb, they’re fine until you push 10psi, so depends on what your goals are.

Key is safe / conservative tune combined with good gas and controlling engine temps.

The plan is to stay extremely conservative with the tune. I am running a new mishimoto aluminum rad and ford racing high flow water pump for starters. The car is primarily a street car.

I will likely install an electric push fan also.

If you have any problems controlling coolant temps, oil cooler is an engines best friend.
