    Lest we forget...

On this 100th anniversary of armistice day, let us all take a moment to remember and honour those that paid the ultimate sacrifice, those that served and those that continue to serve. Your service to our country is greatly appreciated. Lest we forget.

We call it Remembrance Day and we say never forget when the majority have no idea what was and is sacrificed for all of us.
Remember the stories remember history for what it was, don’t conflate it, you disrespect those who gave so much when you do.
Support our troops even if you don’t agree with the politics. Support our veterans because god willing you will never have to go threw what they did
    And above all else REMEMBER.

    IT IS THE SOLDIER
It is the Soldier, not the minister
Who has given us freedom of religion.
It is the Soldier, not the reporter
Who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the Soldier, not the poet
Who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the Soldier, not the campus organizer
Who has given us freedom to protest.
It is the Soldier, not the lawyer
Who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is the Soldier, not the politician
Who has given us the right to vote.
It is the Soldier who salutes the flag,
    Who serves beneath the flag,
And whose coffin is draped by the flag,
Who allows the protester to burn the flag.

I held your head in my hands
Your legs weak, you couldn’t stand

You spoke words I couldn’t hear
Your face so brave and yet full of fear

Far from the corner where we would play
The trench consumed us, wet mud and clay

Your eyes faded to a knowing peace
Your beautiful soul was given release

You gave the most that one could give
Dying there so that others may live

Like so many before we had met
Gone now were you, lest we forget
