    averaged 142 mph over 500 miles at a high-speed track in Texas where it was running on a set of Goodyear’s new whitewall Thunderbolt economy tires. --- glad that I wasn't one of the test drivers!!

    crazy eh! I was looking at those tires in the pic and thought we had no fear back then - my '79 Trans Am was a sleeper with around 400hp on the factory 10year old Uniroyals and never gave it a second thought...lol

    Too funny, were they Bias Ply's? They look far too skinny to hold the road even in my DD Prius.

    I would think they are Bias-ply they have the same look - I don't think PolyGlas where yet at that time - if you've never driven on Bias Ply they are a real treat...lol - but somehow we managed even in the winter
