He is using a heat gun on the low setting in this case.

It's to help soften up the glue and clean it off the car but are you using a heat gun or hair dryer at all.

Depending on the vinyl used, yes can be a bastage to get off. Also found, gentle heat from the get go is best so as to not turn the vinyl brittle which in turn sees it comes off in uber tiny - mega frustrating bits.

While I've got a heat gun, always start with an old hair dryer on stripe and decals and move up to the gun if req'd.
