Sales contact from the VW dealer got back to me today saying it's impossible to order a GTI bound for Canada in a colour on the US option list

aka - he ain't gonna try very hard

soo....emailed Volkswagen Canada

we'll see how they respond

in my profession....not trying very hard costs you present and future business

so basically a potential sale only held up by customer choice of color ( rightfully so)- hmm must have too many VW buyers lined up so who cares about this lost sale. I know VW will say its more complicated than that lol.
