You continue to get calls from the same entity if you don't press one but if you do then your number gets resold to other entities more aggressively as "verified".

Unless I'm busy I try to keep them on the phone as long as possible. I put them on speaker and just go about doing the dishes, taking a dump or whatever else I'm doing. Wasting their time being the objective
