mechanic thought it might be a faulty map sensor. the one day, while waiting for the map sensor, it went into limp mode and wouldn't come out. tried the map sensor and that didn't fix it.
talked to a couple other Izuzu tech and they said turbo.
sure enough the variable vains set up is stuck.
found a reman turbo. and decided id change it myself instead of paying a couple grand to have someone else do it.
better than a detonation failure.
So veins stuck in max boost I assume?
Looks like it. Leaver is cranked all the way to one side and won’t come back
Are so many years of turbos being dead nutz reliable, someone came up with a way to make em fail faster...............job well done.
How many kms on the truck?
140000 ish.
Izuzu wanted $5k for the turbo. Found a reman one for 2800. This is one month after the $10k brake job.

Your not kidding on ouch.
Good reason you see most light-ish duty tow trucks n similar have gone back to mostly gassers.
Sometimes I really wonder about turbo motors.
Only turbo failures I've seen on ours are from other issues like clogged oil coolers or EGR problems. Worth having a look around while its apart and making sure all systems are good before you slap a new snail on and it fails again shortly after.
