I was stuck in traffic for 1 hour because of idiots on the road in combination with an intersection with non -working lights

My work is about one block from my house. And that's small town block not big city block. I can walk to work in about 30 seconds. I do how ever spend all day every day on the road doing service calls. So not sure if I win or lose.

i started commuting 8 years ago. it was 40-45 minutes. earlier this year it was always just over an hour. since the 404 opened up to Keswick a few months ago, it has been a solid 1:20 each way. starting to get to me too.

I'm up at 4:30am on the road 5:10. I'm not back home until 5:30PM!! If I'm lucky. It's the carpooling that kills me. Adds 20-25min in the morning and 30-40 min home.

my commute is a breeze....and I have the luxury of being in a small office where I can leave around 4pm and avoid the rush because I typically walk into the office around 730am (also avoiding the rush)

8 minute stroll from house to Yonge subway platform

20 minute subway ride downtown

4 minute stroll from subway to office

bit of a bitch in nasty weather and if there's a subway delay....but 95% of the time it's smooth and stress-free

Commuting grows old fast. I did the Harriston to Dundas daily drive for five years. 250km round trip. About 1.5hrs each way and up to 3-4 hrs each way during bad winter weather. The route was 90% country driving with little traffic which was the only saving grace. I don't know how people put up with daily driving around the GTA. No thanks...My current drive is about 4mins and I don't take that for granted. You have to do what you have to do but stress both financial, physical & mental caused by a lousy daily commute takes it's toal eventually.

I hear ya on the stress part. Like I said earlier. I think a life change is in order. I'm just about ready to fire sale everything and go live in the woods.
