Ford Officially Calls 5.0L Coyote Ticking Sound a Normal Characteristic

Ford has finally issued an official statement on the Mustang GT 5.0L Coyote engine’s ticking.

In this official release on the ticking sound experienced by some GT owners, Ford calls these “typewriter tick” sounds an “operating characteristic of the 5.0L engine and no repairs should be attempted.

I've yet to change my oil I'm just over 5000k- I will do it once the season begins - I idle it once or twice a week I hear nothing unusual from the bottom end - the noise I do hear are from pulley movements (I believe) and once the car reaches temp it is much quieter - hear no engine noise in the cab - not sure I would want this engine in a work truck that is dedicated just for work and maybe that's the reason for the new iron block (just a guess) because I think maintenance should be a top priority with this engine - good quality oil - and with boost one may want to try and keep crank case pressure down...I will listen after the first oil change and see - what can you do...! The 2018 has four knock sensors - and I see a lot on the road still driving around (even the 5.0's in this weather)

I've always thought the injectors on my 3V were a bit noisy.
