So I decided I'd venture into the garage today and do a quick mod. Kids bought me a Shelby GT500 shift knob and a Drake Muscle car retainer to go with it (threads over the shifter handle and secures the boot).

One problem; it appears that the Steeda shifter has larger/courser threads than stock, so the retainer won't thread over it. Disappointed to say the least.

I can put the knob on using a thread adapter/jam nut that comes with the knob, but that means the boot will not be secured and basically floating just below the shift knob...not the greatest setup, and not sure how it will be when shifting (a little lower position without the retainer being in place.

Anyone with suggestions? Did a quick internet search and appears I'm not the only one to run into this....

Wondered if I took the retainer to a machine shop if they could re-thread it?
