    Thanks Richard for the adhesive. I brushed off the old foam backing from the door panel and the insert. Masked off the area with painters tape and newspaper. Sprayed the 3M adhesive on both parts and put the insert back in place. So far so good, and the insert is nice and smooth but no longer padded. It's only been three or four hours since I did it so I'll have to wait and see if my work will hold up. Thanks to all for the tips.

    Don’t rush it , if you have tape holding it up leave it for a bit , I took 2 cracks at it 2nd time was a charm
