    Official Cyclists Thread

The clues that make me think it is a cheap department store bike is that it has one piece cranks and a pretty large chain ring. Newer high end ramp bikes will have 3 piece cranks and a really small chain ring (the small chain ring is used so that you do not catch it when dropping in on a steep ramp). The clues that make me think it is pretty old are that it has a chrome fork and dirt treads on the tires.

If you wanted to know what brand it is, or what year it is from (assuming that it is pretty old) you could check the numbers that should be stamped under the bottom bracket in the database on BMXmuseum.com or look though the database for a distinguishing feature - I'd start with looking for bikes that have the same join where the top tube and fat down tube meet the head tube.

But ultimately what it is or what you paid for it is irrelevant if it is getting you back into a sport that you are enjoying. Rip it around and have fun!!
Thanks for that. Yeah it is fun but tough to get back into since I haven't even played soccer in over a year. I was going to dump some money into a custom build last summer but it can wait. My buddy hooked me up with some tires and pegs. This thing is heavy compared to the newer frames being built today. Serial # is BCI0201216 but can't find anything on it.

You could also join the facebook group called Old-mid School BMX Canada and post the pics there. Someone may recognize it.

The Niner has a very unique frame. They introduced back in 2012. This one is a lightly used 2012. It took me that long to find one in my price range.
Full suspension carbon fibre front and rear, the frame and rear shock weighs in at 5lbs
Complete bike weighs in around 25lbs, the wheels are my week/ heavy point.
Aside from the rider, that’s another week/ heavy point.

I have a Kona Fire Mountain right now... nicely equipped for a cheap'ish bike. Used to be sponsored by Mongoose when I used to do downhill mountain biking and cross-country (company paid for Kayaks, bikes, snowboards, etc...)

I grew up around this mountain: https://skibromont.com/en/mountain-b...ain/trails-map Also the Estriade trails, very fun and no cars!
