Just a question! But when you do the track stuff, are you racing against people physically or is it time trials ? Essentially I just want to know if I’m risking smashing my own car

No it’s a track lapping session, go as fast as you are comfortable.
No one keeps official time, no passing in Rookie/ New group, and only 2 passing zones for intermediate/advanced group AND passing only permitted in those groups when driver being passed signals to do so( so both drivers on the same page)

For this years event you can only have passengers in your car that show up with you because of covid.

For people riding in the car, you both must either be wearing a helmet, or both not wearing a helmet.
Windows should be all the way up or all the way down.

If you've never been to a open lapping day event, going to one that is run by us is the best thing to do to get your feet wet. Like Newbie was saying, there is a Rookie group where beginers are learning the track and learning to drive there car at speed.
Rookie group has ZERO passing zones so you don't have to worry about someone passing you. People using there head and distance themselves accordingly to avoid contact.
If you feel like you are being held up by someone infront of you... all you do is come back to PIT OUT and rejoin in open track.

So if my wife wanted to join me and we both don’t have helmets that’s ok ?

    You have a vert right?
I believe the rules is without a roll bar in the car, you have to have a helmet in a vert. Don't quote me on that, maybe one of the other track admins can chime in.
