Usually single is the holy grail of whisky.
I like Chivas 18 yr too

    - Direct competitor ? Single? Hmmm hard to say - this blended is different but I like that it seemed smoother, well rounded, balanced?- yes some blended taste like crap.
I would say in my limited drinking Glenfiddich.

    If blended Johnny Walker Blue,
    even J Black .

After awhile it just becomes “ Fire Water” anyway lol .

    Not. JW fan.

I have tried a few blends I like. Monkey Shoulder comes to mind. I also have a couple of Japanese blends that i like from Nikka.

I may just wait for a whiskey tasting somewhere before committing to a bottle.
If you could attend one of those that would be great idea especially if looking for one of the more expensive bottles.
I agree with you on JW Black not really a fan. I’ve bought Black label but I have a buddy that comes over and he doesn’t discriminate lol.

Monkey Shoulder I think is same ( Grant and Son's ) make Glenfiddich
I was looking at that Nikka - I may buy that next.

Belgian Moon (Blue Moon in US) is nice, haven't seen that Flying Monkey IPA before - is it very hoppy?

“I” don’t think so, but I’ve been sticking with IPAs almost exclusively lately, so my palette might be skewed towards the hoppy.
I’ve tried a few other brews from Flying Monkey (Barrie) and have liked them. Hoptical Illusion Almost Pale Ale, and Smashbomb Atomic American IPA.
