Rarity doesn't always = collectible or high prices.
Look at stuff like Cadillac Alante's (rare but hot garbage) or Bricklins (20k gets you a show quality car).
Foxes are going nuts because so many people equate them with a period in their lives or in time. They are also fun little demons to drive. However for the money you have to be somewhat objective. I think there prices are driven by rich guys looking to make money, no enthusiasts looking for good cars. Eventually the money will move on to other avenues and they'll settle in a price bracket indicative of what you're getting
