    Oil for flat tappet engines

I've recently learned that most motor oils today have modified their formulas to be friendly to catalytic converters but not so friendly to flat tappet engines.

I know there are additives and have also read that certain diesel engine oils are Ok.

Any suggestions for readily available options?

Several "Hot Rod" oils out there with the correct amount of Zinc / zinc substitute to keep your flat tappet cam alive n well.
Rotella 15w40 (non syn) Diesel is another good option.
You could also contact Ryan (Mr Amsoil) to see what they have to offer.

I saw Valvoline has a racing oil called VR1. It'll make my car faster but not convenient to get.

Why change from 10w30 to 15w40 if using Rotella?
