The Ford Maverick is coming, but maybe only in crew cab

The small Ford Maverick car from the 1970s is being rebooted as a small pickup truck in 2021, which is exciting news for Ford truck lovers (and there are a lot of them). But the most recent reports and spy shots from Ford Authority indicate the vehicle may be available exclusively in crew-cab guise and not as a regular cab or long bed.

That should be fine for the majority of shoppers who would opt for that setup anyway, but may push those looking for a smaller base work truck back toward the F-150. Engine options include a turbo 1.5-litre EcoBoost Dragon three-cylinder; and a turbo 2.0-litre EcoBoost four-cylinder, likely paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission powering the front two, or, as an option, all four wheels. So smaller than the ranger? Or in between the ranger and the f150?

    Don’t get the point?!?

Smaller than the Ranger. I think it's basically a transit connect with a tiny box. I'd be vaguely interested if it was a long box short cab but then they would sell maybe 10 of those so not worth making them.

Not interested in carrying passengers. Trucks are meant to carry cargo.
I would be interested in a small, regular or extended cab truck with at least a 6’ box.

Did Ford run out of names? What’s next? A Thunderbird minivan? A Model-T-GT?

Why can't one of these manufactures make a true mid-size truck. I miss owning a Dakota!

Maybe make it a Hybrid? I have a RAV 4 Hybrid, excellent power, <6 litres per 100KMs, about the same size I would suspect, surprised Toyota hasn't made a Hybrid Tacoma
