    Pinion Seal Replacement

Noticed a leaking pinion seal on the 66 yesterday.

    Ford 8"

I'm planning to use the old mark the nut, mark the pinion and count the threads trick so reassembly is back at the same preload.

Is this wise or should I pull the brake drums, measure the preload and reassemble to the same reading?

You'd be fine with the above.
