New Edge rack in a Fox

So I will be installing a GT/Mach 1 rack and MM hybrid steering shaft in my Fox over the winter.
Is there a need/any point in changing the power steering pump pulley size?
Was thinking of putting a larger pulley on from a 99-04 V6 to slow down the pump.
    Good idea or bad?

I've seen lengthy discussions on swapping to a Saginaw style pump over on road race forums. Apparently the stock Mustang pump tends to puke fluid when worked hard on the track. I know some older Windsor equipped Econolines had factory Saginaw pumps. Years ago I salvaged braackets off one in a yard. They went into the deep dark recesses of my shop and I haven't seen them in a while... No 1st hand experience with the Saginaw swap. I also recall seeing some California outfit making steel brackets for a Saginaw onto a Windsor. That was for a 4WD off road application. I'm not even sure if the appropriate Saginaw is still available. I'm swapping to a KRC.

Fluid definitely comes out the top when the fluid is hot. I zip tie a rag over the top of the reservoir on track days.
If it was more race car would do a KRC pump for sure.
Currently working a way to extend the reservoir housing to hold more fluid.

Any thoughts on the larger pump pulley? Or would it even make a difference?

Only need to slow it down if your over spinning it's optimum RPM.
Extension on the reservoir as you previously looked into seems like a solid fix.
Even Cobra / Ross's with external reservoirs tend to leak at least a bit on the track, quickie diaper made outta a rag n all is well.

Older Escorts had an extension piece on the pump. I've also seen a simple piece of hose clamped in place to extend the neck. As to a larger pulley. My opinion is that will give low speed parking lot grief with little difference at higher engine speeds. I have no experience to base this opinion on.

The factory extension pieces are very hard to find, been looking for awhile.
I'm starting to agree that the larger pulley size wont matter.

pretty extensive discussion on racks, pumps, pullies etc here:

thread title: Mustang Steering Rack Effort.

If you're interested in converting to Saginaw I'd be down to have brackets made locally and split costs. I have a talented backyard machinist friend near by. I have 2 cars, only one is getting the KRC pimping.
