    NEW S197 Brake Cooling Design

    IMG_9127-M.jpg

Vorshlag has come out with a brake duct solution for the s197 crowd. After they made the S550 one, it looks like they've gone back to the s197 and come up with a design for it.

    I wonder if they'll do a sn95 one

They give zero data in there article on how much it decreases temperature in the brakes.

    anyways... check it out.

My thoughts are... unless you have a tunnel in a splitter or a hole in the bumper/remove the fog light... where would it pick up any air? I don't think a bone stone S197 facia would do any good here.

    Thoughts?

Was going to suggest these to my dad now that he has the boss lower valance.
It has open fog light holes. But like you say, how much difference will they make?
He’s likely getting brake cooling hoses and backing plates.

The deflectors on a s550 with the tunnels in the splitter (pp1/pp2) say they are on par with a 4" brake hose setup.
So... my guess on the s197 with no tunnels is that it would do something... who knows if thats a little or a lot though.
It's 1000% better then brake hoses and has zero maintence moving forward. Literally a 5minute bolt on.
The price tag is ridiculous though, 239usd? Insane.

Price for the deflector is nuts for what it is.
Do you think you would need a short section of hose from the fog light hole to direct air to the deflector?
Hoses and backing plates are cheaper.
But how many time will you need to replace the hoses?

To me, doesn't seem out of line price wise.
Moving to aftermarket lower arms on the 197 so no testing for me.

Vorshlag even says on there site is that the price is what it is because of the hose you will have to eventually replace... lol.
In the long run, the deflector makes more sense, if it's working.

Taking out a foglight and putting in a duct would be ideal for it to work the best probably.

Would you have bought the deflectors if they made them for your car?
