After the April raise of carbon tax the Liberal government has now said they have new “scientific” data that shows carbon costs upwards of $250 per ton.

Humans are predisposed to superstition. The successful humans (those that didn't starve) shared this predisposition "gene". It started with sacrifices for rain, crops, fertility and progressed to organized religions. Modern society is largely secular and the superstition predisposition is finding purchase in climate change, or social causes.
