When I decide to buy a new car it's gonna be hard not to look at the GT350.

Interesting Solidworks video of flat plane vs cross plane crank action.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?featur...&v=2AzrOPPZFzs

Apparently lots of flat plane attempts have been made in top fuel and pro stock, with catastrophic results, yet in F1 and Ferrari road cars this works.

Advantages are the firing order and resulting cleaner exhaust pulses when using conventional headers (see the old GT40 bundle of snakes to give the same effect) and a lighter crankshaft.

Disadvantages would be the stresses on the crank and block as shown with the 180* adjacent cylinder motion? not sure. Harmonics are likely to be different set of issues as well. Will likely be internally balanced - not sure if the Coyote or the Mod motors have been - anyone know?

Kind of disappointing that there is no DI or dry sump in this motor upon release - unless those things are coming later. Ford is also not admitting to the 8200 rpm redline; just saying it will "likely be" the highest revving V8 they've released.

no dry sump is a bit of a let down, any car designed or aimed at road courses should have one. The rest is interesting for sure.
