No they just attach and detach quickly. The one I posted on my car slides.

I currently have the cheap hideaway one and agree that the spring is not the best. Anyone want to do a groupbuy on the Craig's custom plate holder?

when i had my miata i just threw it on the dash. I have no idea why it is mandatory to have a front plate in Ontario.

I hate the front plates as well. Sucks that we have to detract the beautiful front of our cars.
