Convertibles at the Spring Track Day...

I saw a post somewhere (I'm old and I can't remember where it was) inquiring about convertibles at the spring track day. So I sent a question to Reon and here is his response:

    Hey Stephen,

The track doesn't require roll cages for convertibles but the top will need to stay up while you're running the vehicle. As far as the drag strip goes, you would have to consult the NHRA rules. I believe 6-point Cages are required for vehicles quicker than 11.50. This is (of course) if we end up running the drag strip that day.

    Cheers,
    Reon

    Also, helmets are required.

All participants should have a helmet.

Most likely they don't want to be held liable for random debris flying in?

As said, anything loose blowing out or passenger reaching up through the cage to take pics etc.
While it's preferred, TMP had previously been loose about enforcing it on lapping days.
No downside to pushing forward with seemingly small things to improve safety.

Got a quick pm to my response.
Of course, purpose built "race car" without a fixed roof falls into an entirely different category.

Liability is always a concern. Some tracks make verts with no roll over protection sign an additional waiver of liability which clearly states the driver's awareness of no roll over protection. If I remember correctly, verts at Mustangs at Mosport are no longer allowed unless they have roll over protection.
