    Cobra Brakes on GT (99-04)

Are upgrading the rear brakes on a GT to Cobra spec as easy as ordering Cobra Calipers, Caliper Brackets, Cobra Brake Lines, and Cobra Rotors? Or is there more that needs to be changed like the axle mounting flange and what not.

    I want to put

    and

    on this

Significant gains with the Cobra fronts. Rears are nice but honestly, hard to tell the difference in braking power vs the stock GT stuff. Biggest advantage, Cobra rears use a vented rotor so they tend to run cooler longer.
Huge bang for the buck with bolt on Cobra fronts.
Nice visual upgrade bolting on the Cobra rears.

Not sure who still sells it, at one time there was a rear upgrade option that utilized a larger solid rotor and caliper bracket, stuff was a bolt on.
Might have been Baer, also might look at North Race Cars or Full Tilt Boogie.

    Rick,

Would I be better off just doing Cobra Front swap and then toss a quality set of Stoptechs vented rotors in stock GT size on the rear? I mean visually I wanted the larger diameter rotor outback as well, but if its going to be a giant pain in the ass to swap more than just brackets I may bag it.

Cost is surprisingly similar in either route.

^^ that's the route I went and love the upgrade. SS lines and good pads.

Yes... Stock rear calipers with slotted rotors & Mach 1 fronts. I need to use spacers on the fronts for the Billet Specialties 15" drag setup.

Do you have pics from the side of that setup with your 18s on?

Stock size rotors will only come in solid, too thin for vented. Cobra and GT pads are almost identical, cobra ones are just thinner to accommodate the thicker vented rotor. If it was mine, upgrade the front to Cobra, set of SS line all round, decent matching pads n rotors for the stock rears and done.
