    auto trans

i might be looking at a 1988 mustang 5.0 with a rebuilt auto transmission...thinking on just running an auto in my 1980 coupe build for now...the 80 is an auto now so it needs a full t5 clutch and pedal swap...what are the issues with these transmissions...how much power can they handle..for now the motor i will put in the car will just be stock fuel injections or carbed. for now the power will be stock motor...get it running then decide where to take it..

    thx

I can't think of an automatic for a ford V8 that can't handle more power than a T5. T5's are weak. Worst problem with AOD's is that they are lazy in stock form. For the cost of a T5 swap, you can build a very strong AOD that will take 2-3 times the power of a stock/built T5.

T5 is just more fun to drive on the street.
