5.0 with old SVO heads, Cobra intake and Vortech V1 S Trim - TB question!

    Hey guys,

Motor has stock 93 bottom end, Old SVO aluminum heads, non ported Cobra Intake and a V1 S Trim making 8psi. Currently makes 385-390RWHP.
I believe there is a 65mm TB on the car (or smaller, have to take it off to check) but being that the Cobra Intake opening is 70mm, would I benefit from adding a 70mm tb? Would this require any tune adjustments?

    Thanks!

From what I remem the original Cobra intakes had a 65mm throttle body opening.
The 100,000 chinese copies prob had 63-72mm throttle body openings.

I would measure what you have and go from there.
With your combo 65mm is big enough but smooth airflow is key.

Thanks. I did some research and the real Cobra Intakes have a 70mm tb opening, but Ford used a 65mm tb on the 93 Cobra's.
I however will take it off and measure.

FWIW i ran a 70mm with 520rwhp, so 65 should be plenty. Key as WM pointed out is smooth flow.
I would change the pulley first. Then retune, or leave it as is, with Hyper pistons you have good power, nice tune and reliable. If you want to turn up the wick get a better shortblock IMO. Been there done that.

Along with the '93 bottom end came cast / hyper pistons, suggest you are at the max reliable boost now.

Motor has 100K on it. I doubt im going to pulley it for more boost. Partially because spinning harder will probably create more of a heat soak issue than I already have. Only thing I may do is the 70mm TB. Also thought about porting the Cobra lower, I heard there are good gains to be had.
