    Stripping threads on tw170's

I'm trying to install my lower intake onto my new tw170's and the threads on the heads keep stripping. I'm torquing them down in 3 stages and they're stripping on the first stage. Has anyone had problems like this before? I've ordered some helicoils as my research has shown that people have good success going this route.

Can anyone provide some insight or previous experience with this problem?

    Thanks

Not at all normal, sure you have the correct spec?
On a side note, we never torque 5.0 intakes down. Instead go round n round n round a little at a time with a regular length ratchet until the gasket quits settling.

Have the heads been planed? the intake might not be sitting square on the heads and thus bolts going in at an angle.....

One of them stripped at 10 ft/lbs and the other one stripped at 15. Intake shouldn't be on an angle. I put threaded rods into the 4 corners so the manifold goes on square.

I'm going to try the helicoils on the 2 that stripped and then just do as Rick says and tighten them with a ratchet.
