Been adjusted, approx how much (in number of turns / part turns) preload do you figure each / most have?

If you figure too much preload, need to get poly locks to adjust.
If you figure too little, either need non shouldered studs + above and or longer push rods.
Have you checked rocker pattern to determine push rod length?

14 Once you remove the rocker arm, you should see a bright strip on the tip of the valve. This is the roller rocker arm tip's travel across the tip of the valve. The general rule of thumb is you want this strip to be 0.080-inch or less in width. Center the pattern on the valve tip and make the pattern as thin as possible by adjusting the pushrod length and measuring again as needed. Comp Cams tells us that the shorter the travel (width) the better, than being truly centered, and that it is best to favor the inboard side of the valve tip. Once you have an acceptable pattern you can measure your adjustable pushrod and order your new pushrods for the best geometry, performance, and longevity.

While it's not totally critical, need to at least be in the ball park.
Clean off valve stem, use a black felt tip pen to mark.
Rocker back on n tightened down, rotate enough.
    Check pattern.

ok i just redid it...found tdc on firing, went and tighten them down as per firing (tighten each rocker while spinning push rod until snug then half turn) order making sure each cylinder was tdc and when done some rockers still you can jiggle them around with your hand, that to me does not feel right..

Unless you are super experienced, rotate push rod method most suggest will not get you to the end zone.
Gimme a call when you can.
