ABS light and whinning power steering?

So for the last little while the mustang has had its fair share of headaches.

the ABS light has been on for a while and even after the battery was disconnected it came back on....what are the common faults for this and where should i start to diagnose?

As well the power steering pump seems to be whinning now, not just at full lock but even during short, non rolling turns to...again, my thought is the pump is about to kick the bucket. fluid is topped up and was just changed in the spring.....thoughts?

Car is a 96GT for those not in the know.

Abs is tough without knowing the codes, but if you really don't wanna have it scanned you can check your tone wheel teeth to see if any are broken or a ring is snapped, also check the wiring at the pump for corrosion. The steering is likely a bad pump, or the wrong fluid. I never change Ford power steering fluid anymore as it seems when you do you get a noise shortly after.
