    S197 engine cooling fan upgrade

An easy swap and upgrade for the S197 V8 cars is the cooling fan assembly from the 2013-2014 5.8L Shelby GT-500 cars. If it can keep 662 hp cool, it will be just fine for any of the smaller engined cars! For the time being, they are a pretty reasonable price from Ford as a replacement part. Club pricing is $282 + HST, we are keeping one on the shelf.

Please contact us for more info on this or any other Ford / Lincoln / Mercury parts needs.

    thanks,

Yes, from what I understand it is a direct fit part for all 05-14 V8 cars. Also available in the FRPP catalogue, but at higher pricing than as an OEM part currently.

On the hot days in the summer I noticed my temp gauge would read 200+ when normally its about 195.
    Normal or not?

That's likely normal, especially when you're moving slow and not getting a ton of airflow through the front of the car. If you have a tuner on the car, there may be a way to adjust the temp setting when the fan engages.

I just read an article about the fr500 rad as a cooling upgrade on a mustang mags website. How does this compare?

From what I've read, the suggestion is to use both together for best cooling efficiency. But the rad is a lot more $$ than the fan assy, FRPP site currently showing $749 USD retail.

If the stock unit offers just enough CFM to keep things in check, larger fan would be the logical first upgrade, especially when it's reasonably priced.

Installed the M-8C607-MSVT fan and an AFCO radiator during the winter of 2013. Both excellent cooling upgrades for the 3V S197.

7 blade SVT left, 6 blade OEM right.

Level on the OEM fan showing the SVT fan is a good 1" thinner than the OEM fan.

    AFCO versus OEM.

Sweet upgrade Scott. Far too many up the engines output and forget it's gotta be kept cool.
