    Excessive Cabin Noise...

At first I thought it was the SLPs. I'm not sure if I became more sensitive to the sounds my car makes but recent long trips and cruises on the highway have made me think otherwise. The SLP LM1s are loud as hell but they were the tip of the iceberg.

I noticed the sound that was causing me headaches were not caused by the SLPs but by something far more sinister... I have no clue if its the transmission or if it is the rear end, but I really cant take it anymore.

    Here's the link:

Sorry for the soundcloud link. It was the easiest way to do it. I made it downloadable as well. Maybe I'm hearing things but that sound is driving me nuts! Any thoughts?

Sounds like the rear end is howling?

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm still hoping its the rear and not the transmission. But it does sound like its coming from the rear...and its VERY...VERY ANNOYING

Sounds like differential noise, if it was trans you would hear it in the center and it would be all the time, not just under load. Keep in mind if you're changing gear ratios you'll likely need a tuner to adjust the speedo.

That's good to know... Luckily I have a SCT tuner handy so it wont be a big issue.

I just never remembered it being so loud...It may have gotten progressively worse over the year or so that I've had it...could be me. Either way I might need your magical skills ...

About the same as I've remembered it from the get go. Always louder in the fall n winter with the windows up. Normal for it to get louder as the diff fluid warms up during a longer hwy run.
