Check Engine Light but no code...

My mom's Kia was showing a check engine light so I brought up my code reader on this recent visit home. When I plugged in the reader it found no codes. I hit the erase button and now the light is off. Any ideas? The car runs fine with the light on.

Read online, not all that uncommon for some Kia's to flash a false check engine light. What model / year is it?

Figured it might be a Rio, false engine light related mostly to them.
