13" Cobra brake upgrade on SN95's

*03/04 Cobra brake swap on a 96 GT*

For those that have completed this upgrade, did you have to change out your front flex lines or could you keep them stock?

Specifically on a 96 GT for instance. I can't find any truly credible sources on the inter web. If I can get away with the stock lines for now I will, and then upgrade to MM's braided lines in the future.

It's been a while, but I recall the fitting on the PBR calipers is different.
I went while a SS braided line made for the Cobra brake retrofit.

Do you have actual 03-04 calipers? Those ones went back to the coarse thread M10 banjo bolts that the pre-99 calipers had. The 99-02 PBR calipers (V6, GT, or Cobra), use fine thread M10 flex hose bolts. It's been a while since I've eyeballed them, but I'm thinking that if you have coarse thread calipers you should be OK. When I did the Cobra brake swap on my 95 Super Coupe, I reused the stock flex hoses after doing a bit of grinding on the banjo block of the flex hose on one side. The 93-97 T-Birds / Cougars shared front calipers with the 94-98 V6/GT SN95.

In most cases, original flex hoses will bolt right on (with correct banjo bolts n new washers of course) needing at the most, a touch up like Ed described. On others, block it bolts through is considerably different, almost like Ford had more than one oem supplier, those require a bunch of grinding but to date have always been workable.

Cool, going to get working on this in the near future. Might just order the MM lines and call it a day.
