    Kyle Busch got a waiver the year he won the Championship after he broke his leg week 1 at Daytona.

    I don't understand this whole waiver thing. Does the waiver effectively give him points? It should be if he wins a race, he'll get into the playoffs. If he doesn't, then he won't. (presumably because he won't have enough points due to missing 6 races or whatever)

    That's exactly what the waiver is. If he wins when he gets back, he's in.

    However, if 16guys win, he'll be the last man out due to being last in points.

    So, if he didn't get a waiver, but he won, say 3 races, he wouldn't be allowed in the playoffs? That'd be whack.
