Humans do the same thing as chickens when you compress large numbers of us into small spaces and make us compete against each other for resources. Chickens are not supposed to be put in large numbers into spaces as small as this - goes against nature and natural behaviour.
Yes we raised our own chickens for meat and eggs as well as had a barn full for a local egg farmer.

Ppl freak out when they see how egg farms are. Like many other types of farming but it's done for a reason. They do lack exercise but well fed well watered and live longer than in natural settings.

Far better thanks constant fight to the death scenario.

A guy in North Bay wants to have chickens in the downtown core for pets/a few eggs...the city said 'no go' according to the bylaw. One thing our council has done right among a sea of fails...

Oh ok, we had chickens/chicks at one point in the back yard (many people do in the Caribbean) but they were not crowded into tight spaces (we did not see the factory farming behaviour described although their was a natural pecking order just like with wolves/dogs and groups of people) so their biggest worry was our three German Shepherds wanting to play with them.

In Kauai, they encourage tourists to bag as many as they want and take them home.

Don't say that too loudly - Toronto councillors will want to take a trip to go get some.
