Finally wrapped up my sub install on the truck
Done on the cheap. Amp and sub where sitting on the shelf (from when I thought I would put a system in my old Mazda truck).
Took the system out of the Mustang and salvaged the wiring.
Built the box out of plywood left over from the basement reno.
Bought some carpet and a few wiring connectors. All in, probably $50 out of pocket.
Took WAY longer than I thought. Building the box didn’t take too long, but wiring took me a ridiculous amount of time. Thankfully got everything wired up correctly the first time and didn’t have to trouble shoot anything. And carpeting a box is definitely an art, I need way more practise. Came out okay, but not perfect.
Special thanks to SlipperyVic who pointed me in the right direction and gave me some very helpful advice, because I knew almost nothing about this stuff when I started out this project.
Sounds great! Just what I wanted. This system won’t blow the doors off the truck, it just sounds good (to me at least).

89 LX...bye-bye!!
67 Cougar x 2...should have kept them!
That looks great. Very well done.
Had my 2014 Lariat FX4 in the dealership last year to repair the rear window defroster. They ended up having to replace the rear sliding window assembly under warranty. Went out this morning and tried to use the defrost and it's taken a dump again! Shiat...hopefully, they won't have to replace it again even though it's still under warranty. Pain in the butt to get things done right now.
I can see why Ford went with a new design on the rear window assembly.
