plastic welding, hot staples?

Does anyone have experience with using hot staples for plastics joining and welding?

I've seen some videos on using hot staples and then plastic welding but have seen comments the staple tools don't last.

I'm trying to determine if this is hype or worthwhile, and also if a particular brand is good or bad.

Plastic welding only works on some types of plastics. And your filler needs to match.

It’s been a few years since I have done any so things may have changed but we used to Have better luck on car bumpers with 3m adhesives specifically for plastic repair and mesh tape vs welding.

Also cheaper up front cost if you only have a small repair to do.
